We are New Yorkers who developed the travel bug later in life. Spoiled by the city that never sleeps, we didn’t think the rest of the world had anything to offer until we discovered the enrichment of immersing yourself and your children in another culture, learning their history and experiencing life as a local. Our passion for travel has led us to travel across the world, seeking kid-friendly vacations everywhere we go. The mission of this site is to share, inspire and motivate others - having kids is not the end of your exciting travel experiences, it is just the beginning of a whole new way to experience travel through the eyes of your children!
Make the children equal partners in your vacation, let them invest time and energy in planning. And if they have no interest in participating, then channel their interests into your planning. We know our kids love to eat sweets, swim and go on adventures. Working these three, simple concepts into our planning, we ensure EVERY day we are on vacation at least half the day is spent on kid friendly activities. Depending on where you are, that can be taking a swim, using a local playground, going on a sweet/dessert tasting stroll, taking a class, enjoying a resort activity, fishing….you get the idea.
So for Melissa and I, this usually translates to a morning adventure, exploring the region in some capacity, followed by a lazy afternoon by a pool or the ocean, followed by dinner and a late night stroll for dessert. This is a recipe that has woked EVERYWHERE, at every one of our travel destinations. The kids may struggle while we squeeze in some adulting activities, but they are always rewarded in quick fashion by the end of the day with a few hours of activity dedicated to them. And if we spend a whole day on activities for the adults, we will try to spend the whole next day on an activity the kids consider their own.
The 50/50 approach allows us to approach each trip, ensuring we get some adult activities in, while making sure kids have a great time too. In the end, we always find joy in each activity, no matter who it is catered to.
Our favorite destination so far has been Portugal. There is no better combination of value and kid-friendly activities anywhere else in the world. From wine tasting to Michelin starred restaurants, your kids will be welcomed with open arms and kid-friendly experiences everywhere.
